CTE Programs and Services for all Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs)
- Graduate TA Excellence Series
An ongoing series of workshops, led by experienced GTAs, where participants can explore and discuss a variety of current topics in higher education in order to improve their teaching at Cornell.- Graduate Teaching Assistants: Certificates of Participation
GTAs have the opportunity to earn up to eight workshop certificates of participation by attending three or more workshops within a related topic.

- University-Wide Graduate TA Workshop
A half-day program led by experienced GTAs, to supplement existing departmental GTA training and provides opportunity for interdisciplinary discussions on teaching. - ALS 6015- The Practice of Teaching in Higher Education
A highly interactive course designed to prepare graduate students for higher education teaching responsibilities, including serving as a TA or a future faculty member. - Graduate TA Fellow Program (GTAF Program)
GTAs interested in developing their teaching, leadership and mentorship skills are encouraged to apply for this position. - Graduate Research and Teaching Fellowship Program (GRTF Program)
A program that provides graduate students considering careers in academia with advanced teaching and professional development opportunities.
CTE Programs and Services for International Teaching Assistants (ITAs)
- ITA Language Assessments (ILAs)
Language assessments for ITAs who may hold TA duties at Cornell. - International Teaching Assistant Program (ITAP)
Courses that provide students the opportunity to enhance their communication and teaching skills. - International Teaching Assistant Program (ITAP) Summer Institute
An intensive, three-week blended summer course provides selected ITAs with the opportunity to enhance their teaching and oral communication skills. - International Teaching Assistant (ITA) Summer Program
A 5-day program to support all incoming international students whose first language is not English and who will assume TA duties during the fall semester.
Resources
The CTE offers a central place where teaching assistants can go for insight and assistance with their teaching responsibilities. We encourage all graduate students to visit the resources on our website and our office on the 4th floor of Computing and Communication Center (CCC).
