*Teaching with Online Course Management Systems
Technology has become an increasingly important part of teaching, both inside and outside of the classroom, yet it can be daunting for TAs and faculty to choose among the various online course management systems available. This workshop will discuss various software options available to you (i.e. Blackboard, Sakai, Moodle) and how to foster student participation through various web-based media, formats and activities.
CTE10WS03 Wed. Sept. 23
*Designing an Electronic Teaching Portfolio
The idea of a Teaching Portfolio grows out of the conception that teaching is an integral part of academic scholarship, which also includes research, public and professional service. This workshop will assist TAs with documenting their teaching through electronic portfolio development. A Teaching Portfolio includes both work samples of one’s teaching and reflective commentary on those samples. TAs have found that teaching portfolios have helped them secure teaching positions at the completion of their graduate work.
CTE10WS06 Thurs. Oct. 15
*Teaching with Technology
Technology has come to play an important role in university courses. In this workshop, participants will explore various teaching technologies, such as YouTube, Powerpoint, blogs, discussion boards, and Clickers. Participants will also discuss how to choose tools that meet their individual needs and bring about better student learning.
